Job Description
This role is responsible for supporting professional employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study. Depending on the internship assignment, the intern may work alongside engineers, scientists, or industry professionals to contribute to various projects related to their area of study. Under guided supervision, interns will assist with various projects and tasks, contributing to the organization's goals while learning from experienced professionals in the field.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
Perform and assist structural analysis for systems, structures, and components of X-energy developed reactors, including pressure vessels and piping, reactor internals, nuclear fuel, and high temperature materials such as graphite.
Use engineering tools, including finite element analysis (FEA) simulation software, hand calculations, and engineering judgment, to assess stress, deformation, degradation behavior, and lifetime mechanical performance of these nuclear reactor components.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications
Proficiency with engineering hand calculations is required.
Analytical experience with structural analysis hand calculations and structural FEA software programs (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, FEMAP, CAESAR, ROHR, LS-DYNA, PIPESTRESS).
In addition to a resume, candidates must submit at least one letter of recommendation as part of the application process. Letters should be from a professor, academic advisor, employer, or professional mentor who can speak to the candidate’s qualifications.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office
Program Dates: Ten (10) week program (June 1st to August 7th, 2026).
Hours: Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday -Friday
Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:
