About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

The Global Trade & Materials Flow Specialist will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional, joining the team responsible for managing the seamless flow of core materials from global suppliers into our warehouse network while ensuring strict adherence to international trade regulations.

This role is the critical link between global procurement, production planning, and material readiness, simultaneously serving as a key driver for international trade compliance, policy execution, and operational efficiency. The position will have a direct impact on the company's continuous production, sales growth, and overall supply chain cost optimization.

What You'll Do

  • Customs & Compliance: Prepare, audit, and maintain all necessary import/export documentation, ensuring compliance with domestic and international customs regulations and trade laws.

  • HS Classification: Manage and/or support the implementation of the global HS Classification program.

  • International Freight Coordination: Manage all inbound logistics for materials, components, and finished goods originating from global suppliers and Contract Manufacturers (CMs).

  • Carrier & 3PL Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers for inbound shipments. Optimize carrier selection and mode of transport (Air, Ocean, Truckload) to balance cost, speed, and reliability.

  • Material Readiness: Work closely with Global Supply Managers (GSMs), Buyers, and Planners to align material delivery schedules with production timelines, proactively communicating any logistics-related delays or risks.

  • Escalations: Serve as the primary point of escalation for urgent daily issues, including severe shipment delays, customs holds, and immediate material shortages impacting the production schedule.

What You'll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a combined role covering global trade compliance and/or inbound logistics/freight forwarding, ideally within a manufacturing or high-tech environment.

  • Classification: Extensive experience managing and/or implementing an HS Classification program.

  • Systems Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL for data analysis, coupled with proven experience with MRP/ERP systems and inventory management tools. Experience with systems implementation and enhancements is highly valued.

  • Logistics Acumen: Proven experience managing international shipping, carrier relationships, and customs documentation for core components.

Our Values

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
