- Manage the successful transition of manufacturing processes from the Manufacturing Engineering team to manufacturing operations.
- Oversee the execution of process and product validation plans, including trial builds, line capability assessments, and quality assurance gates.
- Ensure all required documentation (control plans, work instructions, process parameters) is in place for handover readiness.
- Coordinate build audits, fit & finish reviews, and end-of-line testing to verify process stability.
- Team Leadership and Resource Management
- Lead and mentor a team of GA Process Engineers, Technicians, and Specialists.
- Define priorities and allocate resources across shifts and launch phases.
- Support development plans for engineering team members to build internal capability and technical depth.
- Process Engineering Excellence
- Ensure robust process design, including ergonomic reviews, torque studies, fastener validations, and safety compliance.
- Lead the implementation of process control systems, visual management, and error-proofing strategies.
- Own and update GA process documentation including PFMEAs, Control Plans, Standard Work, and Process Flow Diagrams.
- Quality and Performance KPIs
- Monitor and drive improvement in process-related to GA KPIs.
- Partner with the Quality team to resolve systemic quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Support launch ramp-up and ongoing production by ensuring process stability and capability.
- Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
- Lead root cause investigations for GA process failures using structured problem-solving tools (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D).
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to improve process robustness and reduce variation.
- Drive CI initiatives through Kaizen events, process benchmarking, and lessons learned implementation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Engineering, ME, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, and Operations teams to ensure process compatibility with design intent and plant layout.
- Participate in launch readiness reviews and gate sign-offs with the Plant Launch Team.
- Provide GA process input for new vehicle programs during design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
Skills
- Proven experience with GA process validation, equipment handover, and launching new vehicle models.
- Strong knowledge of torque management, GA technologies, kitting/material presentation, and end-of-line systems.
- Hands-on experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, Layered Process Audits, and problem-solving tools.
- Proficiency in manufacturing software systems (MES, Torque Traceability, BI, CAD).
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Flexibility to support off-shift and weekend activities during launch and ramp-up phases.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in automotive GA process engineering or production leadership roles.
