Position Overview: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) seeks an

Environmental Non-Profit Summer Assistant to support events, development, and everyday

organizational tasks. ACES is a non-profit environmental science education organization

with three locations in the Roaring Fork Valley: Hallam Lake, Rock Bottom Ranch, and the

Catto Center at Toklat. Since 1968, ACES has been meeting its mission to create a

community of knowledgeable, capable, and motivated environmental stewards through its

environmental science programs for adults and children. ACES’ mission is “educating for

environmental responsibility.”



The Events and Development Assistant will work five days a week during the time frame

(determined by the candidate's schedule). In this position, a highly motivated individual

will be given a comprehensive overview of non-profit systems, such as events,

development, and daily operations and gain valuable experience in an environmental

nonprofit.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events, including but not

limited to gala, fundraisers, and community outreach events.

2. Support the development and implementation of event marketing strategies to

maximize attendance and engagement.

3. Collaborate with the development team to research and identify potential donors,

sponsors, and partners for events and fundraising campaigns.

4. Assist in donor outreach and stewardship activities, including thank-you letters,

acknowledgment emails, and other materials.

5. Help maintain accurate donor and event databases, ensuring data integrity and

confidentiality.

6. Provide on-site support during events, including setup, registration, guest

assistance, and breakdown.

7. Assist with post-event evaluations and analysis to identify areas for improvement

and inform future planning.

8. Contribute to other development initiatives and administrative tasks as needed.

9. Events take place across our three sites throughout the valley and at other venues.

**Some events take place in the evening.


Qualifications:

• Experience in a relevant field such as events, non-profit management,

communications, development, marketing, event planning, or similar fields.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

effectively.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

• Proficiency in Google suite and familiarity with database management systems

(experience with CRM software a plus).

• Enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

• Passion for the mission and values of ACES.

• A go-getter attitude and a willingness to hop in where needed.

• Needs valid driver’s license, as some driving for errands is required (we have staff

vehicle)

Housing

Housing is not provided. Applicants that do not already have housing in the Roaring Fork

Valley should be aware that securing housing here during the summer can be extremely

difficult.
