Summary:
The ERP Finance & Controlling Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and support of financial and controlling processes within the organization’s ERP system. This role serves as the primary liaison between the finance business users and the ERP technical team, ensuring that system solutions align with business objectives and comply with internal controls and regulatory requirements. The Team Lead will manage a team of functional consultants, coordinate project activities, and provide subject matter expertise in areas such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, cost center accounting, and internal orders. This position requires strong leadership, deep functional knowledge of ERP financial systems, and excellent communication skills to drive process improvement and successful system adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of ERP finance functional consultants and analysts.
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality solutions aligned with business and project goals.
- Lead the design and configuration of ERP Finance and Controlling modules, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company policies.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for ERP configurations and developments.
- Oversee end-to-end FTM process implementation including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Internal Orders, and Profit Center Accounting.
- Ensure integration with other ERP modules (e.g., MM, SD, PP).
- Ensure the proper implementation of product costing and manufacturing overheads with all parameters
- Manage timelines, resources, budgets, and risks for finance related workstreams.
- Act as a liaison between business users and technical/development teams.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize finance and controlling processes using ERP tools.
- Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Conduct training sessions for finance users and new team members.
- Develop and maintain functional documentation, process flows, and training materials.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- 8+ years of hands on experience in SAP Finance and Controlling modules
- At least 3 years in a leadership or team lead role overseeing SAP projects
- Proven experience in managing full lifecycle SAP implementations (Planning to go-live and support).
- SAP certification is a must, ideally in Finance or Controlling.
- Prefer certified professional such as TOGAF, PMP or ITIL
- Deep knowledge of SAP finance and controlling including GL, AP, AR, AA, BL, CCA, IO, PCA, PC and PA.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end finance and controlling processes such as procure-to-pay (P2P), order-to-cash (O2C), plan-to-build (P2B), and financial close.
- Understanding of Universal Journal (ACDOCA), and Margin Analysis.
- Familiarity with Fiori-based user interfaces and role-based access in S/4HANA.
- Experience in integrating FICO with other SAP modules like MM, SD, PP, and with external systems (e.g. banks, tax engines).
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of SAP financials consultants and analysts.
- Coaching and developing team capabilities through continuous feedback and training.
- Experience leading FICO workstreams in SAP projects: implementations, upgrades, rollouts, or migrations.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into system solutions.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of functional or integration issues.
- Data reconciliation and validation during testing or financial closing.
