The Industrial Electrical Trainee is an entry-level developmental role designed for candidates with maintenance background, relevant industrial or manufacturing experience, and a strong working knowledge of equipment, tools, and plant operations. This position provides structured, hands-on learning under the guidance of experienced electricians while the trainee progressively completes electrical al training to build knowledge and skills. The trainee will assist with basic troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, work orders, and the repair of industrial electrical systems while developing the competencies necessary to advance into an Electrical Technician role.
Responsibilities

- Assist experienced electricians with daily electrical maintenance and repair activities.
- Learn to safely work with motors, motor controls, panels, and industrial wiring systems.
- Under supervision, Troubleshoot electrical issues relating to the PLC controlled devices, motor control centers, VFD’s instrumentation and other standard electrical devices
- Practice reading and interpreting basic electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Use electrical testing equipment (multi-meter, megger, process meter, hart meter, amp meter) as trained.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Document tasks performed and skills learned as part of the training process.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement, initiative, and commitment to learning the trade
- Participate in structured on-the-job training with designated mentors.
- Complete assigned electrical training plan within established timeframes.
- Progressively demonstrate competency in electrical fundamentals, safety, and industrial applications.
- Work toward readiness for a formal Industrial Electrician role.
Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong maintenance aptitude and interest in electrical systems.
- Ability to learn quickly in a hands-on environment.
- Ability to follow directions and work safely in an industrial setting.

Travel requirements
May require travel from time to time, but not on a regular basis for training or other work related assignments.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards..
