Position Summary

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within an HVAC manufacturing facility. This role supports production operations by ensuring all electrical components, machinery, and systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components in a manufacturing environment
  • Troubleshot electrical issues on production machinery, control systems, and facility infrastructure
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and automated equipment
  • Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled systems and industrial automation components
  • Install and wire motors, VFDs, control panels, and HVAC units during production and testing
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and company safety policies
  • Support equipment upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Respond to production downtime events and provide timely corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation


Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license (state or local)
  • 3–7+ years of industrial or manufacturing electrical experience (HVAC industry preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Familiarity with motor controls, sensors, and industrial automation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in HVAC manufacturing or assembly environments
  • Knowledge of robotics, conveyors, and automated production lines
  • Experience with CMMS systems for maintenance tracking


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in industrial environments for extended periods
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when necessary


Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures
  • May require overtime, weekends, or on-call support based on production needs
