The EHS Staff Professional will develop, continuously improve, and implement EH&S programs to effectively manage risk and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations at Lyten’s facilities in California, Nevada, and Illinois. This role will be based out of Lyten’s facility in San Leandro. The Staff EH&S Professional will also foster a positive EH&S culture in a growing, fast-paced startup environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and continuously improves EHS policies, programs and procedures required to maintain a safe workplace and adherence to regulatory requirements. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to develop practical solutions that supports business objectives.
  • Establishes the Corporate EH&S training program to ensure Lyten employees are provided the training they need to do their jobs safely and protect the environment. This will include creating, at a minimum, a comprehensive training matrix, training calendar, and engaging training materials that incorporate adult learning techniques and result in higher retention of information, improved job performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts comprehensive risk assessments, developing tactics to reduce risk to tolerable levels.
  • Leads regular work area EH&S audits/inspections. Documents findings and works with business representatives to track them to closure.
  • Leads the effort to establish a Corporate EH&S Management System that conforms to ISO 14001.
  • Identifies projects and initiatives, establishes project plans, and successfully drive projects to completion.
  • Improves the EH&S culture by working cross-functionally and collaboratively with colleagues and senior leaders to build a culture that embraces proactivity and integrates EHS processes into the business.
  • Leads EH&S business process improvement initiatives in support of our mission and objectives.
  • Supports emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and business continuity. May be called after hours to support emergency incidents onsite. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Contributes to the development of manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D safe work practices.
  • May manage external resources on limited scope projects.
  • Travel between Lyten facilities is required approximately 10-20% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health and safety) AND 5+ years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety within battery, semi-conductor, chemical manufacturing or similar industry OR Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health and safety) AND 7+ years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety within battery, semi-conductor, chemical manufacturing or similar industry
  • Basic understanding of business process improvement methodology such as Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Agile, is desired.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE), and/or Certified Instructional Designer/Developer (CIDD)

This is an onsite position and is not eligible for relocation.

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between

$128,200.00 - $192,400.00

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

This compensation and benefits information is based on Lyten’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. We generally do not negotiate on salary once we have made an offer. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
