Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Capture and validate electrical related requirements
  • Define electrical hardware logic control, as applicable
  • Create electrical schematics/sizing to feed EWIS team
  • Review/approve electrical diagrams/installation documentation/activities
  • Analyze electrical functionality of Safety documents
  • Evaluate ECS components electrical characteristics
  • Coordinate components simulation (as an input to Flight Science team)
  • Evaluate system performance under normal/abnormal electrical transients
  • Define electrical interfaces: Create and maintain eICD
  • Define Flight Test instrumentation electrical interfaces
  • Prepare and maintain “Electrical Load characteristics document” 
  • Establish voltage drop levels for optimized wiring weight and system performance
  • Review DO160 Electrical sections equipment qualification 
  • Qualification (electrical) documents review/approval
  • Write or assist writing of test procedures.
  • Write test reports and analysis statements
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to integrate systems

What you’ll need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Approximately 10 years of professional experience in electrical, automation preferably with exposure to thermal systems or aviation-related projects.
  • Technical Curiosity: A strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and interdisciplinary topics, including thermal management, aerodynamics, and control systems.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot issues and propose creative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication to document work and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Relevant skills include:

  • Understanding of electrical circuits, control systems, or automation processes, including sensors, batteries, inverters, fans, compressors and actuators
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment for testing and validation.
  • Basic understanding of project workflows, timelines, and documentation to support team efficiency.

Bonus qualifications:

  • Aviation Experience: While familiarity with aerospace or aviation projects (e.g., environmental control systems, avionics cooling, or thermal management for aircraft components) is valuable, we especially welcome candidates from non-aviation backgrounds to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to our already robust aviation team.
  • Understanding of high voltage components development (~800VDC). Familiarity with High Voltage design rules and safety considerations
  • Understanding of common electronics testing, including dielectric withstanding test and insulation resistance tests
  • Experience bridging electrical, mechanical, and software domains in system development.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $115,200 - $175,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
