Job Description

X-energy/ TRISO-X is seeking experienced professionals to join our team in the role of Director, IT Fuel Facility. The position will be responsible for leading and scaling IT solutions that support the company’s nuclear fuel manufacturing operations. This includes oversight of manufacturing IT systems, ERP, and specialized tools required to operate a regulated fuel facility. The role will drive both strategy and operations in a start-up environment, ensuring compliance with NRC, DOE, ITAR, and NQA-1 requirements while enabling TRISO-X to meet its business and production goals.


Job Responsibilities:


IT Operations

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and ongoing support of IT and TRISO-X business systems that enable fuel facility operations.
  • Ensure system configurations and integrations support production efficiency, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the service availability, performance, and capability meets TRISO-X business needs.

Regulatory Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure all IT systems and processes meet nuclear fuel fabrication regulatory requirements including NRC, DOE, ITAR, ISO-9001, NQA-1, and 10 CFR 70.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to ensure IT documentation, workflows, and change controls are audit-ready and meet TRISO-X configuration management requirements.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Balance long-term IT strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership appropriate to a start-up environment.
  • Build and manage a growing IT team at TRISO-X, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing talent as the facility scales.

Enterprise Collaboration & Partnership

  • Maintain a strong partnership with the X-Energy CIO to ensure IT strategy, standards, and governance are consistent across the enterprise.
  • Integrate with corporate-provided IT services (infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, PMO, desktop support) while advocating for TRISO-X’s specific operational needs.

Innovation & Efficiency

  • Introduce innovative solutions that enhance manufacturing operations, including selective application of AI, digital engineering tools, and automation.
  • Monitor and assess emerging technologies applicable to advanced nuclear fuel manufacturing.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Partner with TRISO-X leadership, operations, and engineering teams to ensure IT systems enable business outcomes.
  • Manage IT vendors, contractors, and solution providers to ensure successful delivery, cost control, and compliance.

Other Duties

  • Support strategic planning, budget management, and financial forecasting for TRISO-X IT investments.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Typically, fifteen years of general work experience in which fifteen years are progressive IT leadership experience, including experience in manufacturing, chemical, or regulated industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ERP, MES, and operations-focused IT systems.
  • Experience building and scaling IT teams, processes, and governance in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience with vendor management, contracts, and IT budget planning.
  • Experience in project team leadership and large-scale program planning and implementation.
  • Expert knowledge of large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Expert at stakeholder and partner management.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in areas of general management, specifically around team member development, leadership skills, organizational skills, and managing/setting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Location: 151 Lafayette Drive, Suite 300, Oak Ridge, TN

Work Site Expectations: 5 days a week in office

Travel: 10%

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$129,900- $216,500. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.
