Job Description

The Director, Construction Applications leads the strategy, development, and lifecycle of software and digital platforms that support construction and civil engineering operations. This role ensures that construction applications are reliable, compliant, and aligned with nuclear safety, regulatory, and quality requirements while enabling scalable growth and strong customer relationships. Provide strategic leadership for plant and construction-supporting applications. Align digital construction capabilities with business strategy, nuclear regulatory expectations, and internal governance so that construction decisions are data-driven, transparent, and auditable.


Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Own the roadmap for construction applications, translating business requirements from Engineering, IT, Legal, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing into prioritized features and system enhancements and ensuring close coordination with other enterprise systems including product lifecycle and design systems.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (product owners, developers, vendors) to design, implement, and maintain construction platforms that support cross-functional plant development for nuclear projects.
  • Ensure construction applications and workflows support regulatory, export control, cybersecurity, and nuclear quality requirements, in partnership with Legal, Compliance, IT, and QA.
  • Establish data governance, metrics, and reporting for construction systems.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Construction Strategy leaders to model construction structures, support negotiations, and enable scenario analysis within the tools (e.g., pricing, margin, risk-sharing mechanisms).
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and system integrations between construction applications and ERP, finance, project controls, and engineering systems.
  • Develop and execute change management, training, and communication plans so construction users adopt tools effectively and processes remain consistent across markets and projects.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for ongoing operations, enhancements, and support of construction applications, ensuring timely issue resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree.
  • The skills required for this role are typically demonstrated by 15 plus years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the field and leadership skills and/or project management skills.
  • Extensive business knowledge with comprehensive understanding of the organization and functional area.
  • Experience with SmartPlant, Aveva or similar tools is preferred.
  • Experience Integrating engineering design tools, such as NX with BIM tools is preferred.

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: Onsite but remote may considered.
Travel Expectations: 5%
Hours: Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday -Friday

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$166,800 - $278,000. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.
