Position Summary
As a Development Analyst at Deriva Energy, you will help identify, evaluate, and advance new renewable energy and energy storage projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to all stages of project development. You’ll work closely with experienced developers and cross-functional teams to grow our renewable energy portfolio and contribute to a cleaner energy future.

This role is focused on growth - growth of our development pipeline and growth of the candidate. Employees are expected to develop skills and work largely independently. Employees require strong decision-making skills and will work mostly autonomously with some instruction from management as required.
This will be an in-person position located at our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities
The Development Analyst will engage in a wide variety of tasks to advance the development of energy storage projects while collaborating cross-functionally across the organization.
Research and Strategy
Research emerging market trends within the energy storage space, including ISO/RTO policy, utility IRPs, new customer segments and supplier trends.
Analyze and develop analytical models and tools using market data to discover insights and make recommendations
Document and present findings in a clear way
Energy Storage Analytics
Market price and project revenue analysis to inform strategic decisions and valuation models
Run “off the shelf” energy storage technoeconomic models (such as Fractal and Ascend Analytics) to inform key development decisions
Create new analytics models when needed to support specific needs using tools such as Excel, Python, and others.
Project Support
Support senior developers in a variety of ad-hoc development, project management, and budgeting tasks
Pipeline Growth – support early-stage and M&A teams in evaluating growth opportunities:
Support early-stage teams in evaluating new energy storage prospects
Analyze financial viability of project locations using pricing metrics and interconnection costs.
Research energy policy environment at the local and state level.
Conduct due diligence on inbound M&A opportunities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Engineering, Finance or similar field
In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s) listed above, High School/GED and one (1) year or more of related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree (MBA or related field required)
Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively
Entrepreneurial mindset with initiative and curiosity to learn
Familiarity with renewable energy, infrastructure, or real estate development preferred
Experience with Deriva Energy’s internship program
Working Conditions
This position is located in Charlotte, NC
In person work schedule with hybrid opportunity– employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Deriva Energy facility
