Job Description:

Compliance & Certification Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Compliance Engineer with direct experience supporting LATAM regulatory approvals to lead compliance efforts across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teamsβ€”R&D, Sales, Operations, Marketing, Quality, and EHSβ€”to ensure that our solar tracker products meet all applicable product safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. This position combines project execution, technical certification guidance, and cross-regional stakeholder support.

You will serve as the LATAM subject matter expert for compliance and certifications, guiding products from concept to full certification, while ensuring alignment with standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Regional Compliance Leadership: Drive product compliance to LATAM-specific regulatory standards, particularly in Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, ensuring timely and efficient product certifications.
  • Certification & Testing Oversight: Manage third-party test labs and agencies (e.g., UL, TUV, SGS, INMETRO), leading certification efforts and ensuring documentation and test packages are complete and audit-ready.
  • Cross-Functional Interface: Act as the key compliance liaison across project teams, delivering updates to Sales, Project Services, and stakeholders. Provide early input on new projects to ensure compliance is built into product designs.
  • Standards & Strategy Guidance: Monitor and interpret evolving LATAM and international standards (IEC, CSA, ISO, etc.). Represent the company in standards committees and provide strategic input to product design teams.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and review technical documentation detailing compliance status, test plans, product descriptions, and reporting materials in line with agency and internal requirements.
  • Testing Support & Travel: Provide hands-on support for certification testing as needed, including at international test labs. Occasional travel within LATAM (<25%) is expected to support in-country testing or inspections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience, including Safety, EMC, RF, Wireless, or Environmental domains.
  • Minimum of 3 years of certifications work with or for a compliance lab (e.g., UL, SGS, TUV, Bureau Veritas, Intertek).
  • Strong working knowledge of Safety and EMC/EMI standards, especially IEC61010-1, IEC62368-1, EN55032, and EN55035
  • Experience interacting with NRTLs (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories) and Government Agencies (e.g. ANATEL and INMETRO) guiding products through listing and Type approval processes.
  • Ability to interpret standards, propose test strategies, and influence design changes for compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical lab testing, including use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, insulation resistance testers, and high-pot test equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced, hardware-intensive development environments.
  • Proficient in English (Advanced level).
  • Able to travel up to 25% regionally and internationally.

Additional Experience

  • Advanced Spanish and Portuguese proficiency.
  • Experience with reliability, wireless, and environmental compliance.
  • Prior experience in solar hardware manufacturing or similar technical product sectors.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Jama, Confluence).
  • Strong technical communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in PowerPoint and technical reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple certification projects independently with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Excel for technical data management.
  • Exposure to certification processes outside of LATAM (e.g., CE marking, CB Scheme, UL/CSA, FCC/ISED)
