As a Co-op or Intern you will:
Actively engage in open discussions to identify ways the company can improve to be better prepared for the future of the energy world
Support engineers on a variety of electric infrastructure projects designing future state distribution and transmission power systems
Develop unique solutions to gather, store, and utilize electrical asset data implemented and collected in the field to improve data-driven decision making
Create and maintain electrical models using power flow software such as PSSE and CYME
Create scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects engaging engineering and other SMEs as required
Work with AES engineering and finance teams to build the project business cases using financial modeling tools
Validate project financial data submitted to the annual budget review process
Manage the budget for assigned T&D annual investment programs
Utilize Management of Change and Asset Governance processes for controlling the modification of equipment, systems, and processes
Participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) for significant T&D equipment failures
Support development and updates to Asset Life Cycle Plans (ALCP) for critical asset classes
Work in an Agile, collaborative environment partnering with technicians, engineers, regulatory experts, and businesspeople of all backgrounds and disciplines to solve complex problems
Attend site visits to substations or other engineering sites to verify electric facilities through field research and learn about complex T&D systems
Participate in formalized AES-specific learning opportunities to further your knowledge and understanding towards accelerating the responsible energy transition
Network with peers, AES leaders, and other like-minded employees in dedicated events, lunch and learns, and speaker series
Use industry-leading software to study potential problems on the electrical grid and proactively propose solutions
The Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
