A Brief Summary of This Position:
The primary responsibility of the CNC Programmer is to write programs and create nests for various pieces of cutting/drilling equipment and other CNC fabrication equipment. This position requires thorough understanding of CNC operations, including CNC drills and cutting machines. Other requirements include knowledge of multiple programming tools including AutoCAD, ProNEST, MasterCam, PieceMaker, ShaftProgram, G-Code and other programming tools. The position also requires basic ability to navigate ERP systems such as IFS. The position also requires basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including excel, word and other tools as needed.
Work Schedule: 1st Shift (Days)
This is an on-site administrative hourly position
Starting pay range (LG35): $23.08 - $28.85 - $36.01
Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
Essential Functions:
Create programs for cutting and drilling machines and other CNC equipment using AutoCAD, ProNEST, MasterCam, PieceMaker, ShaftProgram, G-Code and other programming tools
Interpret the size, shape, and dimension of parts and part shapes based off the blueprint and ensure the CNC part file matches the blueprint
Determine when additional tooling may be needed to effectively create parts and communicate the details to the Engineering and Management teams
Utilize IFS to determine the dimension and grade of material that is either on-hand, or has been ordered, for specific nests to ensure the nests optimally utilize the material
Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Ensure accurate reporting and part identification
Issue material for plate nests and EMI shop orders
Ability to use AutoCAD to modify drawings for customers and special projects as well as create drawings from scratch
Use Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Access and Word to create work instructions, review loads and for other organizational purposes such as schedules
Create Pick lists for material handlers to move materials to designated locatons.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
High School diploma and 2+ years of relevant work/educational experience
Must be able to read and interpret production blueprints
Proficient in the use of tape measures, calculators, thread gauges, calipers and other precision measuring equipment
Ability to work and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience using CNC programming software to create programs is preferred
Working knowledge of proper use of various types of drilling, tapping, and milling equipment is preferred
Manufacturing and/or production experience in steel/metal facility is a plus
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor 3D, IFS, E-Vault, and other CNC programming tools is preferred
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Mainly working indoors in an industrial environment with occasional exposure to abnormal temperatures which may include heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, etc. Employee works around material stacked overhead height. There is exposure to moving mechanical parts as well as high noise levels. Smoke produced from weld processes is also a factor to consider with this position. Hearing protection is required. Exposure to coolant fluids. Safety glasses with side shields are required. Operator must stand, lift and bend 100% of the shift. Lifts on average 25 lbs. 30% of the shift. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
