Seeking an experienced Civil Engineer/Supervisor to join our team supporting the Xe 100 advanced reactor project in Richland, Washington. This is a key technical role leading civil and structural design activities for a first of a kind deployment at a brownfield nuclear site.
What You’ll Lead
Civil/structural design for major site facilities
Foundation engineering for nuclear and balance of plant structures
Seismic isolation systems and seismic design integration
Geotechnical investigations and soil structure interaction considerations
Building layout, load path development, and structural configuration
Coordination with licensing, safety analysis, and multi-disciplinary design teams
Oversight of engineering deliverables from partners and subcontractors
What We’re Looking For
Experience with nuclear, industrial, or heavy infrastructure projects
Ability to lead cross functional engineering efforts for large capital projects
Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced development environment
GENERAL SUMMARY
Supervise and support our team with owner’s engineer oversight, construction, design reviews of new advanced reactor technologies, and progressive design/build contracts. The position is responsible for activities such as supervising the Owner’s Engineer activities, assist with site licensing and construction permit activities, participate in design reviews for new reactor technologies, support progressive design/build contracts and construction efforts, interpret and review NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regulations, NEI and EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) documents, provide schedule inputs and review project timelines, and providing input to the manager on budget, schedule, staffing, and long-term planning.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Managing -- Manages employees using established Energy Northwest policies, procedures, and practices. Communicates a common vision consistent with that of the leadership team. Conducts pre-job briefs with staff to ensure mutual understanding of assigned work. Reviews and approves (per procedure) the work generated by group and the owner’s engineer.
Developing -- Responsible to develop workable personnel strategies to achieve the department’s vision and mission. Assures the engineers maintain their qualification through required training. Conducts frequent observations of his/her staff (including owner’s engineer) and provides constructive feedback to reinforce and enhance performance. Performs periodic performance reviews of the engineers in the group.
Planning/Scheduling –Work with the Engineering Manager to develop the group budget for each project.
Evaluating -- Conducts periodic reviews of group activities to compare status versus the plan. When a deviation occurs, assures the corrective actions are identified and implemented, and conducts employee coaching. Frequently evaluates status of the groups’ budget and discusses deviations with the Engineering Manager. Takes necessary actions to avoid overruns.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related/relevant technical field from an accredited college or university
Minimum of six years of related technical experience. A maximum of two years of the required six years may be fulfilled by a master’s degree in engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license or SRO license may be considered as equivalent to the Bachelor’s degree requirement
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Professional Engineering (PE) license (or ability to obtain) strongly preferred
Knowledge of seismic design, geotechnical engineering, and complex foundations
Bachelor's or Master's in Civil or Structural Engineering
Pay Range
$145,302.00 - $217,952.00 AnnualMidpoint:
$181,627.00Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.
Incentive Compensation
This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
