Role Overview

The Chief of Staff to the CEO is a senior individual contributor role that works directly with the CEO on the company’s highest-priority initiatives. This is a demanding, fast-paced position requiring strong judgment, a high degree of ownership, flexibility, and excellent emotional intelligence.


The Chief of Staff serves as a thought partner to the CEO, helping turn strategy into action by driving execution, improving operating rigor, and aligning leaders across the organization as the company scales. The role spans strategy, operations, project management, and executive communications, and provides broad exposure to how the business is run.


This role is designed as a launchpad into future business leadership at Terawatt. The Chief of Staff will develop deep context across the company, work closely with senior leaders and the Board, and build the skills and perspective needed for broader operational or general management responsibility over time.

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and extension of the CEO, providing reliable, high-judgment support on priorities, decisions, and execution
  • Drive the successful execution of high-priority, cross-functional strategic initiatives in partnership with the CEO, executive leadership team, and department heads
  • Own and continuously improve the company’s corporate goal setting and performance-tracking processes, including defining goals, monitoring progress, identifying bottlenecks, and collaborating with the leadership team to maintain disciplined focus on successful execution of the corporate strategy
  • Support executive and organizational decision-making through structured analysis, clear recommendations, and concise, compelling communication
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, operating cadence, and cross-functional collaboration as the company scales
  • Plan and coordinate annual corporate meetings and key leadership forums, including Board meetings, offsites, and related materials
  • Act as connective tissue across the organization—serving as a liaison between the CEO, executives, senior leaders, and employees to ensure clarity, alignment, and a strong, values-driven culture


Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, operations, or a similarly rigorous, cross-functional role
  • Demonstrated track record of ownership, follow-through, and dependability; the CEO must be able to rely on you to deliver consistently and anticipate needs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear narratives and executive-ready presentations
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and absolute discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience in, or strong interest in, mobility, energy, infrastructure, or adjacent industries

$185,000 - $215,000 a year
Compensation for this role is determined by several factors, including the cost of labor in specific geographic markets, and these ranges are intended to provide a helpful reference. The actual compensation offer will be based on the candidate’s location, skills, level of expertise and experience, and internal equity considerations. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and, where applicable, performance-based incentives.
