ROLE OVERVIEW

Pivot Energy is hiring a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to drive Pivot’s product formulation, market strategy, partner engagement, and portfolio commercialization of distributed solar and storage assets. As a key member of the executive team, the CCO will build upon and optimize Pivot’s existing strengths, including innovative impact-driven development, a track record of delivering for high-profile corporate clients, leadership in policy engagement, and the sector’s strongest greenfield development engine while driving innovation and growth. Pivot’s market is rapidly transforming, with portfolios of distributed assets increasingly seen as compelling options to deliver energy, capacity, RECs, and community impact on a shorter timeline and at lower costs than other sources. The CCO will be responsible for identifying and prioritizing the highest-value opportunities, and delivering products and contracts that create success for both Pivot and the client with a strategic focus on solutions across the distribution grid. To achieve this, the CCO will oversee infrastructure needed to drive market adoption of the company’s products and services through measurable market formation, client development, and strategic planning.

The Chief Commercial Officer will also have direct responsibility for external representation of Pivot, carrying Pivot’s messages and brand to audiences and stakeholders responsible for making energy procurement decisions. The successful candidate will expand efforts to contract with large corporate buyers of energy; pursue, validate, and create policy-enabled delivery of project offtake to utilities and ISOs; and create the conditions for Pivot’s long-term commercial strategy by establishing market and brand leadership in key venues.

  • Define and lead the business strategy for Market Strategy, Corporate Affairs, and Business Development, creating a clear, unified roadmap.

  • Oversee and optimize the infrastructure required for market adoption and tracking of new and complex products, including marketing, sales, and client relationship management.

  • Lead external representation for Pivot, positioning the company as a market and brand leader with key stakeholders, including corporate energy buyers, utilities, ISOs, and policy makers.

  • Establish clear project underwriting parameters early with internal stakeholders to ensure new revenue concepts are commercially robust and bankable, and designed to withstand deep lender scrutiny

  • Monitor evolution of market trends such as customer needs, new products, and strategic partnerships, to ensure Pivot’s product offerings remain at the leading edge of innovative, grid-serving concepts

  • Experience developing, structuring, and navigating complex contract negotiations, preferably with large corporate entities, utilities, and ISOs.

  • Exceptional ability to collaborate across functions, bridging the gap between sales/commercial teams and project development/finance operations.

  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to identify and prioritize high-impact market opportunities in a transforming energy landscape.

  • Deep understanding and comfort with electricity regulations and policies, and the opportunities and restrictions they create for markets for distributed resources.

  • Specific understanding of the intricacies of the distribution grid and how distributed dispatchable assets can play an outsized role in solving today’s energy supply/demand issues.

  • Strong executive presence, with the ability to effectively lead teams across multiple disciplines and motivations; able to deliver integrated and tightly coordinated work products through successful deployment of a broad group of team members.

  • Comfort with a technology-driven work environment, leading teams in adopting tools that accelerate pace and effectiveness.
