As an Automation Engineer II, you will play a key role in advancing Lucid’s manufacturing systems by leveraging the latest developments in IT, networking, cloud computing, edge computing, and artificial intelligence. You will drive improvements in existing systems and create specifications for new systems.
You will:
- Document the software architecture and interfaces across various manufacturing systems from the factory floor to the enterprise level
- Identify opportunities for modernization and efficiency. Develop proposals for upgrading existing systems. Manage resources and schedule for performing upgrades
- Create specifications for new systems including network architecture, software interfaces, security, disaster recovery, and maintenance
- Support various manufacturing teams in identifying operational requirements such as dashboards, notifications, data collection, and develop solutions for the same
- Identify use cases for AI in manufacturing. Develop proposals for demos and pilot projects
You bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer engineering or related field is preferred, a combination of years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Ability to build and manage Virtual Machines with Windows and Linux OS
- Ability to program in higher level computer languages – Python, C++, C#
- Detailed knowledge and direct experience in computer networking – managed switches, subnets, VLANs
- Detailed knowledge and direct experience in building software interfaces using communication protocols such as MQTT and REST API
- Detailed knowledge and firsthand experience in building SQL databases and programming queries and stored procedures
- Knowledge of Ignition SCADA software including advanced features such as scripting, database connections, and enterprise administration is a big plus
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and industrial robots is a plus
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA is a plus
- Capability with machine vision applications is a plus
- Capability with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA is a plus
- Strong organization skills – tracking schedule and open items, creating meeting agendas and minutes
- Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, domestic and international
