Overview

CCR is seeking an Associate Director of Grid Integration to develop and execute generation and large load interconnection strategies in MISO, NYISO, and PJM. This position focuses on managing generator and load interconnection pre-application diligence, submitting interconnection requests, advancing queue positions, interpreting study results, and negotiating interconnection agreements. The role reports to the VP of Grid Integration and works closely with development, engineering, and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

Interconnection Strategy & Execution

  • Evaluate tariffs and proposed changes for impact to pre-application market/site selection and interconnection strategy.
  • Support evaluation of power transmission infrastructure requirements and risks, including for co-located energy sites.
  • Manage generator and load interconnection requests and queue advancement across PJM, MISO, and NYISO.
  • Coordinate with transmission providers, ISO staff, and internal engineering teams to resolve study issues and advance projects.
  • Lead GIA negotiations

Portfolio & Diligence Support

  • Lead interconnection due diligence for acquisition opportunities, including management of consultants for technical scopes of work assessing key interconnection risks.
  • Partner with internal teams assessing deliverability risk, upgrade costs, and queue timing implications for multiple market regions.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Directly represent CCR and advance CCR commercial priorities in ISO/RTO stakeholder meetings related to generation and large load interconnection processes.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with ISO staff, transmission providers, utilities,  consultants, and peers.

Education & Experience Required

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited university required.
  • Strong technical understanding of power system analysis concepts (power flow, contingency, stability), study interpretation, and interconnection risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with grid modeling tools (PSS/E, PowerWorld, TARA, or equivalent) and geospatial analysis tools (ArcGIS, Nira, Pearl Street) preferred.
  • Proven experience managing generator and load interconnection processes.
  • Ability to navigate complex queue timelines and communicate effectively with transmission providers and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating technical work across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills sufficient to produce concise, technically sound reports and presentations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to clearly articulate technical insights to diverse audiences.

  • 6+ years of applicable professional experience

Location: The preferred location for this role is one of our offices in Asheville, NC; Durham, NC; NYC; and San Francisco, CA. Additionally, we are on a hybrid schedule 3/week. We are also open to hiring remotely.

Compensation: The salary range for the position is $190,000-$210,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
