General Description:
The Service Technician III plays a vital role within our technical service teams, embodying the right onsite attitude and ensuring that all company policies and procedures are adhered to at the highest standards. This position is accountable for executing daily service installations as planned, completing tasks efficiently and on schedule. Additionally, the technician must perform all project functions to meet company standards, diligently following established standard operating procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain the warranty and service schedule. Ensuring the timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with modules, inverters, monitoring, and balance of system components
- Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians.
- Serve as a subject matter expert by providing on the job training and up-training for the local field service team
- Regularly exceed defined goals for field service key performance indicators including but not limited to turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed
- Following work safety procedures as directed in accordance with OSHA regulations
- Assisting in maintaining company fleet stock and cleanliness
- Assisting in warehouse organization and cleanliness as assigned by supervisor
- General labor, including or not limited to carrying panels and ladders, panel cleaning, site cleanup
- Support the onboarding and training of new members of the field service team
- Participates in the On Call rotation
- Execute punch list follow-ups to ensure install quality and customer satisfaction as directed
- Role models the Solar Alternatives organizational culture daily.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience preferred in a discipline related to rooftop photovoltaic installations, construction, or building sciences or,
- Roofing, Electrical, Service, or HVAC
- Highly organized and very attentive to detail
- Well-spoken, clean appearance and good client manners
- Clean driving record, valid license and ability to drive small and large service vehicles
- OSHA 10 certification is required upon hire or must be obtained within three (3) months of employment.
- Hand tools and basic power tools
- Ability to work 40-50 daytime hours per week
- Willingness and ability to learn product value and explain to client
Preferred:
- Electrical/Roofing/Service/Engineering training or education
- Service/NABCEP/electrical certification
- OSHA 10 hour or other safety certification
- Field service software familiarity
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to work unsupervised and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands/fingers.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Groundwork, ladder work, lift work and occasional roof work
- Work performed on customer installation locations.

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:
Salary starts at $25-28/hr based on qualifications, plus opportunities for sales bonuses. Benefits include majority-paid medical, dental, vision and matching 401K program. Earned paid time off starts at two weeks annually.
