Position Summary: The Quality Inspector & Kitting Specialist is responsible for ensuring product quality through rigorous inspection processes and the accurate assembly of kits for production or customer fulfillment. This role works closely with the Operations team and maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship to PNS QM to align quality standards and kitting procedures across the organization. A secondary focus includes supporting 6S workplace organization initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of products and materials to verify conformance to specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
Document inspection results using appropriate forms, logs, or quality management systems (QMS); maintain accurate and complete records.
Identify, tag, segregate, and report nonconforming materials; initiate or support corrective action requests (CARs) as needed.
Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and assist with supplier quality evaluations.
Utilize precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, etc.) to verify dimensional and functional requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and reduce defect rates.
Support internal and external audits; assist in maintaining ISO or other relevant quality certifications.
Communicate quality trends and inspection findings to PNS QM on a regular basis.
Accurately pick, stage, verify, and assemble kits per bills of materials (BOMs), work orders, or customer requirements.
Inspect all components for damage, correctness, and completeness prior to kit assembly.
Label, package, and prepare kits for delivery to production lines or for customer shipment.
Maintain organized kitting area; manage component inventory and flag shortages or discrepancies to the appropriate team.
Continuously identify and suggest improvements to kitting processes to reduce errors and cycle time.
Actively participate in 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) improvement projects within the facility.
Assist in developing and maintaining 6S standards, visual controls, and shadow boards.
Conduct periodic 6S audits and report findings; support root cause analysis and corrective actions for 6S non-conformances.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and workplace organization among peers.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience Required:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution and 2+ quality regulatory requirement experience
