POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager of Indirect Procurement and Facilities is responsible for leading SMA America’s indirect procurement strategy while ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost effective operation of company facilities. This role provides leadership to the procurement team, manages vendor and contract relationships, and oversees facilities operations to support a productive work environment. Success in this role requires strong cross functional collaboration, vendor negotiation expertise, and the ability to balance strategic procurement objectives with day to day facilities management.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute SMA America’s indirect procurement strategy across services, vendors, and locations.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage external suppliers and contractors, including supplier onboarding, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Legal to ensure contracts are in place for key suppliers, including negotiation of service levels, pricing, capacity planning, flexibility agreements, and payment terms.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives across indirect spend categories while maintaining service quality.
  • Serve as the escalation point for supplier service issues, quality concerns, and supply bottlenecks.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the procurement team, including workload management, coaching, and quality assurance.
  • Support Procurement Specialists with contract negotiations and purchase order creation and management.
  • Oversee facilities operations including maintenance, security, safety, and overall functionality of SMA America locations.
  • Develop and manage a proactive facilities maintenance program, coordinating inspections and timely issue resolution.
  • Partner with safety teams to ensure compliance with safety standards, training, and emergency preparedness.
  • Plan and manage office space utilization, renovations, and reconfigurations to meet evolving business needs while ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Monitor utilities and collaborate with Corporate Real Estate Management to optimize energy efficiency and align with corporate policies.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives and implement environmentally responsible facility practices.
  • Manage facilities budgets, source competitive bids, negotiate vendor contracts, and track expenses to identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management and leadership experience.
  • More than 5 years of progressively responsible experience in indirect procurement and facilities management.
  • Experience working within an ERP environment, including procurement or purchasing modules.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and contract management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • APICS CSCP certification.
  • Experience implementing sustainability and energy management initiatives.
  • Knowledge of building systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • German or Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

  • Compensation: $97,000 – $113,000 annually, dependent on experience.
  • Work model: Hybrid schedule based in Rocklin, CA with in office days Tuesday and Thursday and work from home on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
