Role Overview:

The Power Plant Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for conceptual design, system architecture, and feasibility studies for the electrical infrastructure of power generation systems that integrate gas turbines, PV solar, BESS, and other technologies to meet the unique energy demands of large industrial facilities and data centers.

The role balances FEED-level conceptual design with hands-on electrical system simulation (ETAP, DIgSILENT, CYME, PSS, SKM, or equivalent) to validate performance, reliability, and availability. The engineer will work closely with mechanical, civil, and controls teams to deliver fully integrated, reliable, and cost-optimized power solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Conceptual Electrical System Design:

  • Develop preliminary single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, and system architectures for gas turbines, solar PV, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

  • Define HV/MV power distribution strategies, interconnection schemes, and redundancy concepts.

  • Perform detailed simulations including load flow, short-circuit, stability, motor starting, arc-flash, and harmonic studies using ETAP, DIgSILENT, CYME, PSS, SKM, or equivalent.

  • Model and assess system reliability and power availability (N-1/N-2 contingency, redundancy analysis) using reliability block diagrams and probabilistic methods.

Grid Connection & Compliance:

  • Evaluate grid interconnection requirements and compliance with international electrical standards.

  • Assess reactive power compensation, harmonics, and stability impacts for seamless system integration.

  • Define protective relays and power system protection strategies for reliability and safety.

Equipment Selection & Preliminary Specifications:

  • Identify key electrical components, including circuit breakers, relays, inverters, transformers, cables, and grounding systems.

  • Develop preliminary equipment specifications and define procurement strategies for major electrical assets.

Reliability & Availability Analysis

  • Quantify system uptime and availability targets (e.g., 99.999% for data centers).

  • Compare alternative configurations (radial, ring bus, dual-bus, UPS/BESS) for reliability and cost.

Interdisciplinary Coordination & Documentation:

  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, and control engineers to integrate electrical systems with plant infrastructure.

  • Manage external engineering consultants to produce technical studies and design deliverables

  • Coordinate with other engineering teams (USA, South Korea, Vietnam) and provide necessary technical support in electrical design and engineering tasks.

  • Provide technical input for CAPEX/OPEX estimation and feasibility studies.

  • Prepare FEED-level reports, electrical schematics, and technical documentation for the next project phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • 概念設計:単線結線図(SLD)、電気レイアウト、HV/MV配電戦略、冗長化コンセプトの策定

  • 系統解析:潮流・短絡・安定度・モータ起動・アークフラッシュ・高調波等の解析(ETAP/DIgSILENT/CYME/PSS/SKM 等)

  • 連系・規格適合:電力会社連系要件、IEEE/IEC/NEC 等の規格適合評価、保護方針設計

  • 機器選定・仕様:遮断器・継電器・変圧器・インバータ・ケーブル・接地系など主要機器の選定と仕様作成

  • 信頼性・可用性:N-1/N-2前提の冗長評価、RBD等を用いた可用性モデル化、データセンター水準の可用性目標の定量化

  • 文書化・連携:FEEDレポート/設計図書の作成、外部コンサル・海外拠点との協働
