Head of Hardware
Fuse EnergyFuse Energy is an energy startup on a mission to make energy abundant and affordable, fast. We combine first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system.
We've raised over $200M from top-tier investors including Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, 20VC, Hummingbird and Collaborative Fund, alongside strategic angels including Nico Rosberg and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify and Uber.
We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, using AI across the business, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.
We're hiring a versatile Head or Hardware with Electronics Design experience to develop connected energy devices. The role focuses on leading the hardware engineering function, from electronics and embedded to test and compliance, to deliver robust, scalable and reliable renewable energy hardware.
- Own the hardware engineering roadmap and lead the development of Fuse’s connected energy devices
- Take products from prototype to mass production, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability
- Lead all hardware engineering disciplines under one technical direction and architecture:
- Own hardware safety and regulatory compliance across our markets (e.g., CE/UKCA, G98/G99, EMC)
- Manage contract manufacturers, component suppliers, and test houses, and own supply chain resilience for critical components
- Work closely with product, software, and operations leadership to identify high-impact hardware opportunities
- Lead and grow our hardware engineering team across electronics, embedded, test and compliance, setting a high bar for hiring, mentoring and technical excellence.
