Position Summary:  

The Electrical & Controls Technician is responsible for the safe installation, wiring, and maintenance of electrical systems that support Modern Hydrogen’s first-of-kind industrial products. This role ensures conduit, panels, and power distribution are built and installed correctly to enable efficient commissioning and operation. The position requires strong interpretation of technical drawings and adherence to safety standards, providing Modern Hydrogen with electrical execution self-sufficiency and reduced dependency on external contractors. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Installs, wires, and maintains electrical equipment, conduit, and UL 508A-style control panels. 

  • Interprets and redlines electrical drawings, I/O lists, and schematics to ensure accurate execution. 

  • Ensures compliance with NEC, LOTO procedures, and PPE requirements across low- and high-voltage systems (24VDC to 480VAC). 

  • Performs electrical terminations, grounding, and cable routing to meet safety and performance requirements. 

  • Coordinates with Manufacturing and Controls teams to support smooth equipment energization and readiness for commissioning. 

  • Maintains accurate records of installations, modifications, and inspections. 

  • Provides feedback on electrical design, build methods, and documentation to improve efficiency and safety. 

  • Assists in troubleshooting wiring issues, signal integrity problems, and electrical failures. 

  • May occasionally support commissioning activities during staged startup (not a core requirement). 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, wiring, and panel work. 

  • Proficiency in interpreting wiring diagrams, conduit layouts, and electrical schematics. 

  • Skilled in safe practices across voltages from 24VDC to 480VAC. 

  • Familiarity with NEC standards, lockout/tagout, and electrical PPE. 

  • Strong troubleshooting ability in manufacturing or process environments. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • WA EL01 Journeyman Electrician license (or equivalent transferable certification). 

  • Experience in hydrogen, biotech, oil & gas, or continuous-flow process environments. 

  • Knowledge of instrumentation basics (loop checks, terminations, 4–20 mA signals). 

  • Experience working under commissioning or startup deadlines. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Required to work onsite in Woodinville, WA, must be onsite 5 days a week. 

  • Performs work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment and machinery. 

  • Stands and walks for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day. 

  • Frequently bends, lifts, reaches, twists, and uses hand tools or mechanical equipment. 

  • Regularly uses hands, arms, and upper body to operate machinery, assemble components, or support experimental setups. 

  • Frequently lifts or maneuvers materials weighing up to 50 pounds; team lifts or mechanical assistance required for heavier items. 

  • Exposed to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures; required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, etc. 

  • May operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial machines with proper training and certification. 

  • Adheres to all safety, environmental, and hazard communication protocols in compliance with company and regulatory standards. 

  • May be required to work overtime, alternate shifts, or weekends based on production schedules and project timelines.
