We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy.

The Role

T1 Energy is seeking a Safety Specialist to support environmental, health, and safety programs as we build and commission our advanced manufacturing facility. Reporting to the EHS Director, this role will initially work in an active construction-site environment, partnering with project teams, contractors, and vendors to identify and mitigate hazards, verify compliance, and support safe execution of construction activities. As the facility moves toward operations, the Safety Specialist will help develop, document, and implement site-specific EHS programs, policies, procedures, safe work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), while supporting incident response, training, audits, and a proactive, zero-harm safety culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Support EHS activities in an active construction-site environment until the manufacturing facility is completed and transitioned into commissioning and operations.

  • Partner with project management, construction contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to review work plans, conduct field observations, address unsafe conditions, and promote compliance with site and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform routine field observations, facility inspections, and compliance audits to verify adherence to OSHA requirements, company EHS programs, and safe work practices.

  • Identify environmental, health, and safety hazards; recommend practical corrective actions; escalate significant risks; and track findings through closure.

  • Respond to workplace incidents, injuries, spills, and near misses; gather facts, conduct or support investigations, identify root causes, and prepare clear written reports.

  • Develop and deliver safety and environmental training on required protective equipment, emergency response, hazard recognition, and other assigned EHS topics.

  • Verify that employees, contractors, and vendors use required personal protective equipment and follow applicable site requirements.

  • Support emergency preparedness by helping maintain emergency action plans, response procedures, drills, and incident command readiness.

  • Assist with the creation, review, implementation, and continuous improvement of site EHS policies, procedures, SOPs, safe work instructions, forms, permits, and training materials for construction, commissioning, startup, and ongoing manufacturing operations.

  • Work with equipment owners, operations, engineering, facilities, and other stakeholders to translate regulatory and company requirements into practical site procedures and controls.

  • Partner with site leaders and cross-functional teams to improve safety performance, reinforce accountability, and promote a zero-harm culture.

  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, including program implementation, document control, internal audits, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Maintain accurate EHS records, reports, training documentation, compliance calendars, and related information in company systems.

  • Monitor applicable environmental and occupational safety requirements, including OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and relevant hazardous-material and reporting standards.

  • Participate in safety meetings, drills, task reviews, contractor meetings, and other EHS initiatives as assigned.

  • Track leading safety actions and key performance indicators, communicate trends, and support timely completion of improvement plans.

Who You Are

  • You bring sound judgment, a proactive approach to risk reduction, and the confidence to address unsafe conditions respectfully and promptly.

  • You communicate clearly with employees, leaders, contractors, regulators, and emergency response partners.

  • You can organize multiple priorities, maintain detailed records, and follow issues through resolution.

  • You work effectively across functions and shifts and are comfortable presenting to groups.

  • You demonstrate accountability, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Three or more years of EHS or safety experience in manufacturing, construction, semiconductor, energy, or another industrial environment.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and incident reporting practices.

  • Experience with hazard recognition, safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, corrective-action tracking, and employee training.

  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and hazardous-material handling requirements; experience with EPA and TCEQ requirements is preferred.

  • Experience supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems is preferred.

  • OSHA 30-hour training or a recognized safety credential such as ASP, CHST, or CSHO is preferred.

  • Emergency response, HAZWOPER, first aid/CPR, incident command, or similar training is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work primarily in an active construction-site environment until the manufacturing facility is completed, followed by work in commissioning and active manufacturing environments.

  • Ability to navigate uneven surfaces, stairs, ladders, elevated work areas, noise, dust, weather exposure, mobile equipment, and changing site conditions while following all required controls.

  • Ability to spend extended periods standing or walking and to wear construction- and manufacturing-specific personal protective equipment.

  • Ability to respond promptly to incidents throughout the construction site and facility.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Flexibility to support multiple shifts, drills, investigations, commissioning and startup activities, or emergency response activities as business needs require.
