Job Description:
Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Battery Energy Storage System Operator I or II to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to safely provide our customers with the safe, reliable, and affordable energy they depend on.
What does a Battery Energy Storage System Operator I or II do for us?
With direct supervision, ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Company’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets by remotely monitoring, controlling, and coordinating system operations under normal and emergency conditions. This individual responds to alarms, abnormal system conditions, and events; takes appropriate corrective action to protect personnel, equipment, and system reliability; and coordinates field response by BESS technicians and contracted resources as needed. They exercise sound judgment in time-sensitive operating conditions that may have significant operational, financial, and system reliability impacts. They will participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to unplanned outages and emergency conditions outside normal working hours.
They support continuous improvement of BESS operations by maintaining accurate operating records, supporting procedure execution and updates, and coordinating outage and maintenance activities.
